Pedro’s journey into textile craftsmanship began at the age of ten, driven by curiosity, and constant desire to explore new techniques and understand which materials best suited a piece. By nineteen, he had already founded his own business. Today, with nearly five decades of experience, his work reflects a lifetime dedicated to precision, learning, and persistence.
What started as a personal pursuit gradually evolved into a family legacy. Pedro passed on his knowledge, tools, and values to his children. His son, Lúcio, now works alongside him crafting sofas, while his daughter focuses on sewing.
For Lúcio, continuing this path is both a privilege and a responsibility. Upholstery demands true passion, it is entirely manual, shaped by patience, technical skill and sensitivity to material, where the human touch remains irreplaceable.
WHAT PHILOSOPHY GUIDES YOUR APPROACH TO MATERIALS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP?
In their studio, upholstery is approached with a level of precision that borders on the mathematical. Design, cutting, sewing and assembling all require accuracy and intention. A piece is never simply made; it is carefully constructed through a thoughtful process, from concept to final finish.
Materials are selected with equal care. Their philosophy prioritizes Portuguese materials, exceptional quality, durability and client satisfaction. From the internal structure to the final fabric, all components are chosen to ensure longevity and comfort.

All pieces are built from scratch, guided by the desire to deliver the highest standard of product. If necessary, they will redo an entire sofa before delivery. This commitment defines their work, combining technical mastery with personal integrity.
The environment surrounding the studio mirrors their approach, set within nature, it offers an environment that allows focus and clarity. Pedro draws inspiration from Italian craftsmanship, known for its timeless design and exceptional quality.
Lúcio embraces complexity, seeing challenging projects as opportunities to innovate and evolve. At the core of their philosophy lies honesty and precision. From frame to stitching all details are executed with care and attention ensuring durability and comfort.
HOW WAS IT TO BRING THE DESIGNS FOR QUINTA FILIPPA TO LIFE?
The collaboration with Quinta Filippa brought challenge and expansion. Working from provided designs, Pedro and Lúcio translated the concept into form, crafting sofas, cushions, headboards, and upholstered elements with meticulous attention.
One of the defining aspects of this project was the integration an extra layer of padding to the sofa seat. This uncommon approach allows the pieces to adapt more naturally to the body, creating softness and enhancing comfort in a way that goes beyond traditional solutions.
For Quinta Filippa, they selected Tribu outdoor fabric, known for its resistance, superior quality, durability, and exceptional softness, resulting in a better experience. The project also gave them the opportunity to explore new techniques while remaining committed to their standards of craftsmanship.
