GREEN OPERATION MANAGER

At Quinta Filippa, the gardens, forest, orchards and outdoor spaces are a central part of the guest experience and identity of the estate.

The property covers approximately 45 hectares, including:

  • approximately 2 hectares of established gardens and landscaped areas

  • approximately 2 hectares of agricultural and orchard areas

  • approximately 40 hectares of forest and natural land

The gardens and landscapes have already been developed over the past 6 years, with extensive planting and long-term landscape development already in place.

We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Green Operations Manager to oversee all outdoor operations across the estate, including gardens, pathways, forest areas, vegetable gardens, lakes, greenhouses and future landscape projects.

This role combines operational management, planning, team coordination and long-term development of the estate.

OUR APPROACH

The goal is not a traditional overly-manicured garden, but a highly curated natural environment that feels calm, lush, organic and luxurious while remaining exceptionally tidy and professionally maintained.

We strongly value:

  • Natural Mediterranean and tropical aesthetics

  • Minimal visible plastics or technical systems

  • Hidden irrigation and infrastructure where possible

  • Sustainable and efficient maintenance methods

  • Battery-powered and low-noise equipment

  • Automation and smart outdoor systems

Even though the estate feels natural and relaxed, the operational standard behind it must be highly structured and organized.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and coordinate a team of approximately 8 gardeners, 1–2 machine operators and 1 aquarist

  • Oversee all gardens, forest areas, pathways and outdoor spaces across the estate

  • Oversee approximately 6 larger aquariums and ensure proper coordination of aquarium maintenance and technical systems

  • Maintain a very high level of organization, cleanliness and landscape quality

  • Coordinate seasonal planting, pruning, propagation and agricultural planning

  • Ensure year-round production of vegetables, herbs and fruit for guests and kitchen operations

  • Oversee irrigation systems, ponds, filtration systems and outdoor technical infrastructure

  • Coordinate external companies for landscaping, forestry, tree cutting, fencing and infrastructure works

  • Manage procurement and ordering of plants, trees, fertilizers, irrigation materials, soil, substrates, pathway materials and operational supplies

  • Monitor budgets, timelines and operational priorities

  • Improve automation and efficiency across the estate, including irrigation, robotic mowing and environmental systems

  • Report directly to ownership and translate long-term vision into execution

DESIRED PROFILE

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese, with excellent communication skills

  • Proven experience in estate, landscape or garden management

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Experience managing teams and multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong understanding of irrigation systems, indoor/outdoor plants, orchards, propagation and filtration systems

  • Basic understanding of aquarium systems and water management is a plus

  • Experience with procurement, budgeting and operational management

  • Ability to work independently and proactively

  • Hospitality mindset and strong attention to detail

  • Experience with high-end hospitality or landscape projects is a strong plus

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Opportunity to work on a unique nature-driven hospitality project

  • Long-term growth opportunity within a rapidly expanding estate, our goal is 100 hectares.

  • Creative freedom and involvement in future outdoor development projects

  • Dynamic and international working environment

  • Competitive salary based on experience
