ART RESIDENCY WITH ANNA HAERLIN: DESIGN AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Anna Haerlin, a designer and photographer based in Berlin, joined Quinta Filippa’s Art Residency Program to explore how mindful hospitality, nature, and design can combine. During her stay, she collaborated closely with the team, creating graphic and visual elements that now form part of the Quinta Filippa identity.
COULD YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BACKGROUND AS A DESIGNER AND PHOTOGRAPHER?
I assemble intentional branding, art direction and visual strategy into bespoke design mosaics that inspire. In my design studio I create Visual Identity, Print Designs, Website Designs, Packaging Designs, Social Media Designs, always aiming to create thoughtful visual solutions for each client and project.
In my photography, I aim to create sincere and moving images, exploring and documenting the core essence of people, moments, and places. Based in Berlin, I constantly dream about travelling, as new places and locations are my number one source of energy, as well as my love for humans and their stories.
WHAT DREW YOU TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENCY AT QUINTA FILIPPA, AND WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE ESTATE WHEN YOU ARRIVED?
I rather came across Quinta Filippa and the residency rather randomly and immediately felt like applying as I felt so curious and energized by the opportunity. As a designer and photographer, I find mindful hospitality and wellbeing deeply inspiring, and I want to use my creative work to support projects that embody these values. It’s also a personal passion of mine, I am drawn to beautiful places, thoughtful design, and the future of slow travel where aesthetics, sustainability, and community come together.
My first impression of Quinta Filippa was pure euphoria and curiosity. I was immediately taken by the quality and aesthetics of the space and its surrounding nature. Meeting Nikki and Mike and talking about their vision for Quinta Filippa was truly my highlight and my inspiration. I loved hearing their ideas and felt aligned with the spirit and incredible potential of this project. I feel inspired to be part of this at such an early point.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE PROJECT YOU WORKED ON DURING YOUR RESIDENCY AND HOW THE SURROUNDINGS INFLUENCED YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
During my residency (and back home in Berlin), I worked on the signage, printed materials, the keychains and several other branded graphic items for Quinta Filippa. I drew inspiration from the art (Ilse van Stoltz) the materials, colors, and aesthetic language of the place: the textures of nature, the subtle tones. The artistic spirit of the space, combined with the people who bring this place to life, strongly influenced my creative process. Their passion and vision gave me energy, and I felt encouraged to translate the atmosphere of mindful hospitality and wellbeing into my own visual work.
LOOKING BACK, WHAT DO YOU TAKE WITH YOU FROM YOUR TIME HERE, BOTH PERSONALLY AND ARTISTICALLY?
I take with me the conviction that everything is possible when vision and values align. This residency and the whole Quinta Filippa project reminded me that dreaming big is essential, and that meaningful projects often need time and patience to unfold. For many years I envisioned contributing to a hospitality project as a graphic designer, and Quinta Filippa became the perfect manifestation of that dream. It showed me how design, wellbeing, and mindful hospitality can come together in a way that feels both forward looking and deeply authentic. I cannot wait to see the Quinta Filippa story continue to unfold, to witness my visions being realized, and to return as a guest as often as I can.
